Very small cemetery in Quartsite. Hi Jolly is a little known figure in Arizona history. There are plaques with explanations of Hi Jolly's life and the history of camels in Arizona.🐪 A little interesting bit of history here. Hi Jolly was a camel expert from Syria who was basically brought in to help test camels for use in the army because of the arid conditions in the American Southwest. He is honored here with his burial site along with others in this cemetery.🐪 There are not many attractions in Quartzsite but this is one. I give it five starts based on the effort that has been put forth to tell and preserve the story. There are a few things to read and a monument to see. It will not take you all day. .

Other family’s appeared to join and have made their own memorials for the dearly departed. … More🐪 Celia's Garden is a nice, but slightly neglected botanic garden in Quartzite. There some unique features, such as large saguaros, old mining artifacts, a small town model, and memorials.🐪 Beautiful desert memorials and gardens to take a leisurely stroll in!🐪 Update: Spring colors are coming in...went back and saw some desert beauties.

My tour guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend a visit to this museum so you can learn about the history of the area you're spending time in.🐪 There is so much information on the history of Quartzsite, the area and the families that settled here. Go early. Open Thursdays during the summer 9 am to noon. Fun for the whole family.🐪 The artifact is the "Building". It was built in 1856 of adobe. Go and see the collection of surprizing artifacts from all the mining that was done in this area. Water was gold. And it it cost 50cents a Barrell.

I visited Gunny's RV Park & Military Museum today. The museum is currently under remodeling, but I met the Gunny. He was very welcoming. Gunny explained his story behind showcasing US Military gear past and present. I was very impressed with his knowledge and background. Kudos to his wife and family for their part in making this wonderful dream come true. Thanks again Gunny! Semper Fidelis.🐪 Gunny is dedicated to helping veterans. He has a heart of gold. Sempre Fi🐪 Fascinating talking with Gunny. Unfortunately he has had to close the museum for reorganization. He hopes to reopen next year and we plan to go visit in 2021.🐪 Real good to meet funny and gain great information. My boys want to go back next year.🐪 Gunny was very helpful and answered all my questions. Gave me some good advice.

This is the best twenty dollars you'll ever spend in Quartzsite. Classes in all kinds of crafts for four dollars a lesson. November through April for yearly membership. Big Rooms for crafting. Wire wrapping leather tooling. Lapidary and stone cutting.🐪 The best group of individuals! The shop fees are crazy reasonable. The instructors, and shop foremen are very helpful and friendly. Many many members are turning out some top notch pieces. I'm just learning so...🐪 Is a fantastic learning place. For $20 a year you can learn how silversmithing, jewelry making, glasswork, metal working and rock shaping. $4.00 CLASSES!🐪 Nice club with sooooo much to do. $20 buys you a seasonal membership and then there are so many classes to be taken at $4 plus materials. My favorites so far are pine needle basket weaving, beading and the lapidary. I am also looking forward to learning some silver smiting and bead making. I also want to go on more rock hunting tours....🐪 One of the most organized groups I've ever seen. They have everything you need to start. Gary thank you for educating and directing. Big heart they all have there.

Very interesting to view. There is book available at Quiet Times mailing service in Quartzsite for 5 bucks that give the details of the structure and other oddities in the area. We were able to drive to this in a 2 wheel drive pickup but you couldn't drive there in a low setting car.🐪 A beautiful stone cabin built out of hand-picked stones by artist Joseph Cone. The colors of the rocks, as well as the setting, make this a beautiful place. A high clearance vehicle is helpful but the walk from the pavement is only about a half mile.

Most beautiful scene ever, I would recommend climbing the hill. climb Q mountain to have the best view of Quartzsite Arizona..🐪 A tough climb for an old guy (with the wife) on a *windy* New Years Day. Glad I did it though :-)🐪 I love Q mtn. I climb it everyday in im Quartzsite. Its great exercise and not to hard on my artificial knees. The view is great.🐪 Short but steep climb well worth the views at sunset.

Rode my Bike up from Mitchell mine rd. It was pretty good. Then you cross the washes. Rocky road. Beautiful view from the house looking back at Quartzsite, Az🐪 If you have the 4 wheel drive and high clearance vehicle you get to admire this special location.🐪 Not an easy place to get to without 4 wheel drive. Good thing I have one. It took a while to Traverse the trail. But well worth it. It's literally in a opening at the mountains center.🐪 The ruins still have the wooden outer frames of the windows. The roof is gone. Walls are slowly falling apart. It's ruins. There's mining claim signs all over. Old cans are down and to the right of the building where you see an old cement mixer. Plenty of broken glass in that area too off the trail. Campfire spot and some clothes hidden just over the back hill. Homeless person maybe!

A short drive off the road, 4WD not required. Well preserved, walk along the letters. Look for the N and use you phone compass to verify it still points north. It does. Simple excursion if looking for something to do near Quartzsite. Also just up the road is the Bouse Fisherman, check that out as well.🐪 I'm camping on Plomosa Road north of Quartzsite. This was a short drive up the road. Interesting piece of history.🐪 A simple but interesting navigational aid for early pilots located north of quartzite.🐪 This WW2 relic has a rich history. Before you visit you should research the story behind these aerial guides. There are NO signs directing you to the protected site so do some brousing of map apps to find the route. If your in the Quartzsite area, this is a great little side trip.

Awesome place to ride dirtbikes, quads, utv's, or any other off-road vehicle. A lot of hills and trails for everyone.🐪 A quiet spot for a one night camp over off the highway. Overrun with garbage and vandalism. Looks like a good place for dune buggy‘s.🐪 Fun place to meet up before an adventure run🐪 There is no toilet. Out of the walking dead.

Some premature aging on the concrete pillar. Good that it exists and good to visit especially for rememberance. Maybe the nearby school should be torn down to one or two buildings or walls as examples of the construction at the camp since they’re so dilapidated.🐪 I am here with over 250 actual survivors, family members, veterans. I am at awe the positive karma from the Native Americans and all Japanese families. Although it was a tough time for the Japanese during the time of the encampments, these people focused on the positive side of the times and made the best if it.🐪 We all have so much to learn from these people.

The site I'd reached after a hike over a trail with small volcanic rocks. Someone with a cane can manage it, but probably not a scooter unless it was made for off road. Took about 10 min . The trail is well marked , easy to find the site. As for the figure, it is hard to see from the ground perspective, but it can be made out. Great example of ancient art.🐪 A short walk to an Interesting rock formation. How does it stay here? Why and who made this? So many questions. Sad that we can’t know this mystery. But that’s what makes this cool…A strange mystery. Better to see this in the morning or evening from the ground I would think.

What an adventure!! The road in is heavily washboarded and has some "fun" spots. Sure, you can do it in a car, but you'll wish you didn't. If you see a line behind you, please pull over so we can all pass. This place is huge with 2 bars (at least one full bar) plus 2 food stand options. We got there at noon, the parking lot was half full. Lines at every stand. 🐪Hard to find shaded seating with dogs but if it's just a few people you shouldn't have a problem! Live music is good, people were dancing! The views out here are gorgeous, the entire place is wonderful! Paid $24 for strawberry funnel cake and garlic fries. Was $7.50 for a champagne mimosa, I passed. We brought water (and you should, too!) What a party!

Excellent dinner of steak and eggs and a burger. Waitress could use some training on following up. Drinks ran out. Casino games are all modern. Place is clean as can be.🐪 A nice hotel to stay at, I wouldn't say the best though, the rooms were nice with a little balcony, the location is just a little drive off the 95, and grocery stores are just little ways away. The Bluewater Grille was okay there, I got the Patty Melt there, and it tasted like frozen hamburger patties from Wal-mart, and the fries were okay, under seasoned much. The main deal is the beautiful pool! The pool is excellent place for kids and adults to have fun! There is a slide for anyone to go down, and the staff down there are helpful when you have questions! They also have a good variety of casino games, so adults can have fun too! There is also a dock for your boats to park, so if you don't wanna go to the pool, you could always take your boat down and use it, cause the casino is right next to the river! Overall, the hotel wasn't a bad place! It's a nice place to stay if you need a quick place to rest or if you just feel like going somewhere!

Very nice campground & river play launch site. The location at a bend in the Corado river gives spectators an up-close view of all the boat and PWC activity, and provides a nice beach area to do it from. Well run and organized.🐪 Beautiful place to camp. Great access to launch boat or sit on the beach all day. Rangers were very nice and really care about keeping the place clean. We had a ton of fun and will be back again.🐪 This is a wonderful location for camping and recreational activities on the water. We did notice that the entire week we were there staff never groomed the campsites as campers left. Noticed cigarette butts and the fire rings full of ash. The one bathroom nearest the boat dock is old has no hot water for showers.

I didn't see a hotel. It's a really noisy RV park. Sandwiched between open header drag boats on the river and the road that doubles as a drag strip, it's not a good option for serenity. If you want to party then this is the place.🐪 Loved this place! I paid for boondocking with dump, fill and shower. Great clean showers with good amounts of hot water. Clean dump station, friendly people. I was near the beach and boat ramp which on the weekend was very noisy with people coming in off the river at all hours. That didn't bother me at all, bc I liked hearing their amazing laughter and joy.

Very nice Museum with a great History about Parker and our Native People. Check it out! This Museum even shares about the Japanese Internment Camp thats there!🐪 Excellent, free museum and gift shop! Friendly people! Many exhibits: dolls, baskets, models of dwellings, and more! Handcrafted items for sale, along with Pendleton blankets. Worth the time and free of charge. No photos permitted inside.🐪 Took my family on a Saturday afternoon about 1:30pm. The museum was closed ($5/Person Entry Fee) and the gift shop items were all made in China. I love the idea of this place more than I actually liked it.

We stayed the night in Parker & travelled up & over the dam. Lovely views of the Colorado river each side. We drive up the California side & back the Arizona side.🐪 Great dam to cross with view of lake. Worth following the scenic route to Parker as get to see river and may see donkeys. No San tours now but it is with a cost🐪 It was worth the half-mile drive off Arizona Highway 95 to see this dam. It's not as dramatic as Hoover Dam, but it is still interesting to see. Very narrow road across the top of the dam. Good turnouts to take photos of both sides of the dam. We took all the dam pictures we wanted.

What a great way to explore a beautiful section of the river! Lots of opportunities to view all kinds of wildlife in their natural environment. I did not try fishing during my visit, but there are quite a few docks available.🐪 The restrooms are located inside the visitors' center.🐪 This place was beautiful and I wanted to give it a 5-stars but I had to go with 4-stars simply because so much was blocked off. It looks like there was a fire in the area a while back but much of it hasn’t regrown. Regardless, we still found the scenery beautiful as we off-roaded up and down the hills leading to the main parking location. All the gates we encountered along the way were closed as of August 2023.

London Bridge was purchased, dismantled, transported, then rebuilt In Lake Havasu City prior to dredging and making the channel and creating the island. It’s a piece of world history in the middle of the desert. A must see when in Lake Havasu, make sure you take the time to see it at night lit up!🐪 My kid asked to go here for his 16th birthday. I wasn't thrilled, but it was his request, so that was what we were going to do. I had surprisingly a fun time. It's a cool thing to see but nothing to write home about. I liked the historical things discussing the bridge in that city but wished they added more about its history in London. That was the bridge they used to put heads on. It had 2 former queens decorating it. Shout out to King Henry for the murders!🐪 The surrounding city was friendly, and the scenery was very pretty. I would see it again.

Such and awesome place to vacation with friends and family! Also it’s a very beautiful place to chill and catch some rays and enjoy a few drinks and de stress from all of life’s daily grinds! Will definitely be back soon for more relaxation and to capture more photos and most importantly that extreme drone footage!🐪 Always so beautiful to go here, Love God's beautiful work!🐪 An isolated place on the lower Colorado River in AZ and CA. Very quite and peaceful. Good for boating and Bird watching. It preserves habitat for bighorn sheep to the endangered birds and other animals. The refuge protects 30 river miles - 300 miles (480 km) of shoreline.

A rewarding short hike, 7 miles on a dirt road and sooooo worth it.🐪 The desert was in bloom.🐪 As the evening ended, a full moon rose above Signal Peak as we left the Refuge. What an surreal place.🐪 The beauty of the desert never seems to end. Awesome short hike. Only a handful of palms scattered up the canyon. Stunning views. Dry camping everywhere. Gets HOT.🐪 It's well worth driving 7 miles of dirt road. Trail to view the palms was 1/2 hour hike. Trail is rocky and has some loose gravel in sections so make sure you have good closed toe shoes. This canyon has gorgeous rock formations and it's very peaceful.

Our group likes this canyon, Skull rock and all of the other rock features. We plan to be there at lunch time. Even in the summer cooler shade is available.🐪 The trail in is easy, the only negative for our group. There is a little soft sand, but not bad.🐪 Magical🐪 It was an amazing drive to the top. Incredible stone features and buttes..

This historic, iconic old prison is a must-see if in the area. In operation for only 33 years, opening in 1875, it housed some of the worse prisoners of the time. Excellent signage, restoration and info reveal a piece of hard times within its walls. Check out the Dark Cell.🐪 This was one of my favorite stops in Yuma. Such rich history and so much information on everything! Shared it with my best friends which made it better! A must visit if you're in Yuma! I wish I'd gotten a photo of the old prison cemetary! As you can see we were in and out of most of the cells but there are some that are inaccessible. Probably because of the decor and special effects and not wanting that damaged by over eager tourists!

The visitor center wasn't open, but don't let that stop you from your visit. If you have a decent vehicle with 4×4 capacity, take a ride through the hiking trails on red cloud mine road, see wild burrow, mule dear, long horn sheep, and see some of the most beautiful scenery. Clean bathrooms and roads decent to a point without 4x4. Recommend for those who love adventure, the outdoors, and wildlife.🐪 The Imperial National Wildlife Refuge is a great refuge to visit. There are observation points, hiking trails, and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend visiting and spending a half day exploring the refuge and seeing everything that it has to offer.
