Every winter, Quartzsite, Arizona is flooded with hundreds of thousands of visitors. So much so that it has become known as the RV boondocking capital of the world. We had to go check it out for ourselves, and want to share some of the tips we learned along the way.

Out in the middle of nowhere, between Phoenix and the California border, you'll find a quirky little desert town named Quartzsite. The town is filled with quirky. If you watched Nomadland, you'll definitely want to stop for a visit to see the quirky little desert town that was featured in the film.

Heading east on Interstate 10 from California to Arizona, one passes through Quartzsite, Arizona. At first glance, one thinks Quartzsite is just a place to stop for gas upon entering Arizona or before returning to California. Gas is cheaper in Arizona, so most Californians top the tank before returning to California.

If you are a full-time RVer, chances are you've heard of Quartzsite Arizona. And if not...it's only a matter of time until you do. Like now! Consider this post part of your introduction to the small desert town referred to as the "RV boondocking capital of the world." After we tell you a little bit about it, we'll give you our opinions on this sought-after destination.

IT'S THE END OF OCTOBER 2022 and a lot of you are probably starting to think about where you're going to camp for the winter. I think Quartzsite, Arizona, is a really good place to consider spending at least part of your of your winter season. I'll give you seven reasons why you would think about it, and the three reasons why you might not- because nowhere is perfect.

Quartzsite AZ - Where over 500,000 snowbirds flock for the winter season. What draws them to this large desert winter oasis every year? It's practically free and it's a warm oasis without snow! Need I say more? Ok, how about you can rent a RV space for less $2.85 per day folks and yes I'm serious.

If you are new to Quartzsite, you've no doubt heard stories and folk-lore about Q. My first year, I had a really good time, but I was in a state of overwhelm trying to figure everything out. Also I was fairly new to boondocking (dry camping). So I'm here to help make your first visit to Q is fun and enjoyable..

Now this... socializing.. was the big draw to Quartzsite for us. There are very few places where this many fellow RVers congregate in one vicinity. Actually, I'm not sure there are any bigger convergences, at least none we've attended. And we just had to see it for ourselves!

Every winter, the small community of Quartzsite, Arizona, transforms into the largest swap meet on the planet. Thousands of snowbirds, rockhounds and campers descend on this expanse of desert on Interstate 10 west of Phoenix starting in the fall for a slew of flea markets, gem shows and lifestyle events. For many RVers, the Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show is the main attraction..

I thought I'd show you some of the things we bought in Quartzsite. I sometimes buy exceptional Cabochons cut by others, especially Malachite or other minerals that contain hazardous materials. I also often purchase high quality, unusual or exceptional cabs. These might be bargains, but at other times the Cabs are so notable I pay up so our customers can purchase and enjoy the rare, unusual, and exceptional.

November 27,December 8, 2007 and January 10-24,2008 - We took our time traveling from Death Valleythrough Pahrump, Nevada and Lake Havasu, Arizonaand finally settled down for a while in Quartzsite,Arizona. This is a small dusty desert town of 2,000 year-round residents that swells to 1,000,000 people inJanuary during the annual RV show and RV snowbirdmigration from the northern states and Canada.

Or so they say. According to the Internet, the population of this tiny town situated alongside a very boring stretch of Hwy 10 about 20 miles from the boarder of CA, swells to nearly 1 million people (most in RVs) during the winter months. Mind you this is not because of the town itself, which honestly is not much to look at, but for the ongoing rock, gem & mineral shows, plus the numerous flea markets and swap meets, not to mention the annual RV, Sports & Vacation show.

It's been a whirlwind of a week. Paul and I both agree we haven't been this social in months(years?) and it's a wee bit overwhelming, but honestly this is part of what Quartzsite is all about. If you're gonna come to "Q" you may as well come during the big show and if you're gonna come to the big show you better be ready for some big-time crowds & craziness. This is part of what the fun of being here is all about!

The big Quartzsite RV show is on in 2021, this very week as a matter of fact.. While we are not attending, we thought we'd tell you about the town, why it is such a great place to visit and how you can avoid the crowds by following our example from last year. We never had much of a desire to visit Quartzsite, Arizona.

The QIA PowWow: Day One

Perfect weather greeted everyone in Quartzsite, Arizona for the first day of the QIA PowWow. Not quite shirt sleeve weather but a light jacket or a long sleeved shirt served well. No wind, a blessing for all of the vendors with shade canopies that normally take sail in a strong breeze.     This is Avery nice, well managed and maintained RV park. The jacuzzi spa was especially welcome after a long day on the road! Wifi worked great although not free. Check in was fast and easy with friendly staff. Definitely one of the best RV park experiences we've had! Thank you HP !

Hundreds of thousands of snowbirds flock to the desert around Quartzsite, Arizona each winter. Quartzsite is a small town located along I-10 in western Arizona and surrounded by seemingly limitless public land. The obvious question then is why? Why Quartzsite?

It's not much to look at, but if you like rocks and are looking for warm winter weather, friendly people and astonishingly cheap RV camping, Quartzsite, Arizona is the place to be. We spent 24 hours there earlier this week as we prepared to re-enter urban America after a quiet week along the Colorado River.

Believe it or not, there's lots of things to do in Quartzsite, Arizona. Considered to be the RV Boondocking Capitol of the world, every winter, this small, eclectic desert town draws hundreds of thousands of RVs to escape the cold and to boondock and camp with friends. But, there's so much more to do in Quartzsite that you don't want to miss during your pilgrimage to Quartzsite.

Quartzsite is known by many as the RV boondocking capital of the world. The town is in western Arizona on I10 just 18 miles from the California state line. An estimated 1 million plus RVers make their way to Quartzsite each year mainly in January and February due to the pleasant winter weather

If you're looking for a winter rv'ing destination then you've come to the right place. Here are the best reasons to start exploring Quartzsite Arizona this winter. Nestled amidst the arid beauty of the Sonoran Desert, Quartzsite is a charming town that transforms into a haven for adventurers during the winter months.

We're staying at Boomerville, outside Quartzsite, Arizona, and we decided to take a walk with some of the Escapees Boomers this morning. When we arrived at our group meetup location, we found a group of serious hikers ready to set out on their own, longer, 7.5 mile hike into the hills around nearby Scaddan Mountain. We thought, "Hey, this is our kind of walk!" and asked if we could join the group. We were very glad we did..
