Nestled at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Highway 95, just 17 miles from the California border, Quartzsite is renowned as the “Rock Capital of the World,” offering a plethora of gem and mineral shows, including the famous Tyson Wells Rock and Gem Show.
The town’s population swells from around 4,000 residents to a bustling mobile community as people flock to enjoy its warm winters, abundant outdoor activities, and extensive Bureau of Land Management (BLM) camping areas.
Visitors can explore numerous swap meets, partake in live music events, or venture into the stunning Sonoran Desert on ATV trails. With its quirky charm and rich history—dating back to its days as a watering stop for travelers—Quartzsite promises a memorable experience for all who visit.
This guide was published after 10 years of coming to Quartzsite and discovering so much information that I wish I’d known in that first year.
